This project seeks to document the major 20th Century illustrators working in the field of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Supernatural, and Speculative fiction; focusing on those who worked as cover artists of books and magazines.

We would love to get more information or anecdotes about the artists for their listings. For example, a family member of Carlos Ochagavia provided information that confirmed his middle name, “Victor,” thus solving the mystery of Carlos Victor, who painted the original Illuminatus trilogy covers for Dell in the 1970s.

This database was originally launched in 2006. We look forward to future support to expand the content.
