This example uses a high-resolution scan of a hand-painted historical map, and adds zoom capabilities as well as clickable point objects. The map is not geo-rectified, which would have distorted the beautiful cartography of the original.
The idea here was to preserve the cultural context both visually, and with dynamic content, in the form of links to historical Manchurian post office seals. The seals themselves had characteristic scenes or logos related to their respective historical places.
